Just 15 minutes ago (4:15 PM Dec 9 ) I saw a spectacular sight of 645
white pelicans fishing along the shore of Lake Hollingsworth as well as
15 roseate spoonbills (probably the same group as reported seen around
Lake Parker ) 25 wood storks and one beautiful mature bald eagle standing
on the shore watching the action. Lake Hollingsworth is a small lake in
the middle of Lakeland. It is surrounded by a 3 mile paved walking path.
Part of the shoreline is the campus of Florida Southern College with its
many buildings designed by Frank Loyed Wright. For those of you who would
like to combine bird watching with a beautiful walk then this is the
place.
