Hi all on this great list!
My name is Katja and as this is my first posting to the list, I thought I
should introduce myself first. My background is that of a librarian, but I
work as the archivist and records manager for a life science company in
Finland with corporate headquearters in the US. I love doing what I do, and
can't see myself doing anything else!
I've been a lurker on this list for a long time, and have found this list
to be a big help in questions that come up in everyday tasks at work as
like so many others in this field, I work alone and without anyone to
exhange ideas with. I now turn to this list with a couple of questions I
hope you'll be able to to help me with.
Question 1: Would any of you who have done a ROI to justify rm software
purchase be willing to share it with me? I'm looking for any real cost-
justification information. I have searched both the list archives and
Google, among other sources, and found some information I can use, but I'm
still hoping to find more.
Question 2: One of our corporate sites in the states is being closed down
and the production will be moved here to Finland. It will be my
responsibility to organize the move of the archives in the states to
Finland. Anyone out there with experience in moving entire company archives
from one continent to another and from one records management culture to
another, who wouldn't mind sharing information on the best ways to go about
this? What should I keep in mind when planning the move?
