Hi all,
I am investigating the technology that some agencies may have already implemented and that is have a device (standalone or not) that can scan either all types of microfilm or just fiche.
We have a department that has years of fiche and are looking at other ways to be able to scan it and eventually view it through other programs/devices.
My questions are:
1. What type of equipment is it?
a. standalone b. connects to a reader/printer c. connects to a pc
2. How much is it?
3. Is software to run it extra?
4. Can the images be migrated immediately to another device like cd-rom writer? or into an imaging system?
Any other ideas or suggestions I haven't considered?
Additional information: We already have an imaging system between several departments, and only need a device possibly to connect to our existing pc to do the scanning into a *.tif file format and then we can import those images and index into our existing system. That would probably be ideal.
Please contact me directly if you need to.
