As birders were looking for the Heermann's Gull this morning, a tern being
pecked by a Sandwich Tern just caught their attention. This was at the east end
of the seawall at the Gulf Pier (close to the fort). It was then identified by
Lyn Atherton as an ELEGANT TERN. They had good looks, but as they watched it
flew east along the beach line in the direction of the Skyway bridge and so far
has not been relocated.
You'll recall that one was found by Ed Kwater last winter at Honeymoon Island.
