For several years my firm has used Equitrak to maintain software linking our firm's time and billing database (Elite) to our photocopiers over the network--including regional offices. This is a common practice among law firms, to recover copy costs.

Many counter systems are so antiquated, they are not capable of providing that feature. You may want to consider upgrading to a counter made by Equitrak. I believe the website is www.equitrac.com

I have a question for this list....(this may not necessarily be a records management thing). We have copy counters installed on our photocopiers that we can charge copies to projects with. Each month, I print the information from the counters with an adding machine type printer.......then, the information is entered into the computer, and billing, invoicing etc. is done.
It seems to me that since the information is in electronic format to begin with, there should be some way that I could download it and keep it in electronic format, and then transfer it to the computer. If anyone knows something that would work..thanks.
