City Parks Historian, Economic Development, Culture and Tourism Department
POSITION: City Parks Historian
DIVISION: Policy and Development Division
PAY RANGE: $15.00 per hour
STATUS: 73 day contract

Job Description
The person in this position is responsible for planning, developing, and co-ordinating the collection and management of historical records and information relating to the City of Toronto's parks and parkettes, and preservation projects utilising available technology.

Major Responsibilities:
Under the direction of a Corporate Records Manager, collates, summarises and creates executive summaries of the City of Toronto's historical parks records.

Examines records to create unique and useful historical summary fact sheets of the City's parks records
Develops and assists Policy and Development planners and Landscape architects in the collation and decimination of the City's parks historical data
Conducts needs analysis with clients to identify summary formats and required content

Key Qualifications:
Requires a Bachelor or Master's Degree in history, geographical history, architectural history, historic preservation, or a related degree.
Requires a working knowledge of historic preservation principles
Ability to collate and summarise historical data
Ability to identify and recommend requirements for archival care of historical records
Experience with the handling and care of historical records
Strong computer application skills and, excellent report writing, verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
