WTC surveillance tapes feared missing

NEW YORK - Surveillance tapes and maintenance logs are among the missing
evidence as investigators try to figure out why the World Trade Center
collapsed, federal officials said Monday.
Many documents destroyed in the disaster "are pretty key in carrying out the
work," lead investigator Shyam Sunder said.

Capitol capsule changes hands

That mystery box found in a Capitol attic earlier this year -- with a time
capsule inside -- might finally be put to rest in a safe place.
David Boyer, the Department of General Administration employee who saved the
lead capsule from the trash in June, had the honors of ripping off its wooden
crate to allow an inspection as his agency formally handed the capsule to
state archivists for safekeeping Tuesday.

D-Day maps found hidden in veteran's garage
The Associated Press
ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - While helping his sister clean out her garage, Walter
Kelly ended up with historic World War II documents - and a mystery as well.
The documents he found include original operational plans, maps, overlays,
air routes, and final orders for Operation Overlord, the invasion of France
by Allied airborne units on D-Day, June 6, 1944.
