From: Lawrence Medina

"I've found it intersting that based on the ages stated relative to the
anniversary of JFK's death (I was 9 at the time) that the majority of those
posting were within an 8-10 year span in age, with a few of us being in
about the middle."

From: Alicia Mallory

"I'm probably giving away too much, but I didn't post because I was born
12 years after JFK's horrible death and felt a bit odd chiming in on the
conversation. I was 5 when President Regan was shot, and barely remember
that. Perhaps there are lurkers out there in the same situation."

I think a lot of us lurked on this topic out of general respect and because
we didnt want to tread on any toes. I was born 5 years after Kennedy's assassination.
What i find interesting is that maybe 8-10 is the age where death suddenly
seems real to us. i was 8 when elvis died, 9 when my grandad died and 10
when john lennon died. no other deaths in the public world or my private
life have had as profound an impact as those three although i've experienced
more that should have. Maybe when we become aware of death at that age it
is more prominent as it is an end to the sheltered idyll of young childhood
and an awareness that good things do unfortunately come to an end. Just
a thought and in no way belittling the importance of JFK or the significance
of this week.
