Dear Colleagues:
Just a few items related to the Journal of Paleolimnology etc.
1) First, we thought we would take the opportuntiy to thank Tom Whitmore
for all his work on the Paleolimnology Listserver. It is largely
an anonymous and thankless job, but we think everyone benefits from it.
Thanks Tom!
2) Kluwer Academic Publishers has recently put up their "Publisher's Note"
on the Kluwer eb site, reagarding the J. Paleolimnology. It mentions some
of the changes that Bill and I have sent to the Listserver over the last
few months (like the electronic delivery of galleys etc.) but mentions a
few more things that may be of interest (e.g. the "ArticlePlus service",
some actual numbers on how many desktops are conected to JOPL etc.). We
have simply pasted the short text below in this email.
----
Publisher's Note: Since 1997 the Journal of Paleolimnology has been
available online. More than 7.5 million desktops at over 700 academic
institutions are connected to the journal's contents, mostly through
library consortia or (multi)-site licenses. Please check via your library
database if your institution already has access to the Journal of
Paleolimnology online.
The Journal of Paleolimnology has an Impact Factor of 1.7 and is the 2nd
best cited journal in Limnology according to the ISI citation report for
the year 2002.
Among electronic features recently implemented to the journal are:
* online access to all issues of the journal back to volume 1, issue 1 of
1988, as of summer 2004;
* a new section of 'Forthcoming Papers' that includes free online access
to uncorrected proofs of accepted manuscripts;
* electronic delivery of galley-proofs of accepted papers;
* publication of colour figures in the online version of the journal at no
cost to the author;
* publication of additional multi-media contents (such as movies, audio
files, large spreadsheets) to the original manuscript at no cost to the
author, called 'ArticlePlus service'.
