My alternate plan each day this week was to drive to Turkety Creek if there were no birds here at Lori Wilson. But there has been enough here to keep my interest. Tom Rodriquez joined me in the hammock today and we soon were calling out many warblers. We had great looks at the Swainson's shuffling in the leaves and noticed the quivering in the tail as Jon Dunn describes in his book. We couldn't locate it again in mid-morning when Ralph Bird arrived.
Warblers today:
Black-and-white(several) Swainson's Worm-eating(many) Northern Parula(several) Cape May(male and female) Black-throated Blue(male and female) Prairie(several) Palm(many) Ovenbird(at least 6) Northern Waterthrush Common Yellowthroat(male) American Redstart(male and female)
Also in the hammock:
Yellow-billed Cuckoo Sharp-shinned Hawk(who surprised us, flying momentarily into a tree right next to us)
Every day a new adventure, Phyllis Mansfield, Cocoa Beach
