Hi Florida Biders!
My wife and I will be coming to Orlando again this year for a conference.
Last year we went and did a Ocala-Osceola-St. Augustine loop that was great, and
the input from birders on this mailing list helped a lot. Thanks again!
This year we're driving down the morning of April 16 to Loxahatchee and will
then spend the night in Kendall. We'll then spend the 17th in the Miami area
and go out to Shark Valley. We'll overnight at Florida City and spend the
18th in the Everglades before heading up to West Palm Beach for our last night in
Florida. We'll have a 11 month old fledgling daughter with us this time.
As usual we've got a big wish list. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
We will be making use of Pranty's book. As before, I'll write up an after
trip report and include it on my web page:
http://www.ima.umn.edu/~zajic/birds.html
Do we have any chance at all for either red knot, gull-billed tern,
worm-eating warbler or swainson's warbler?
We're hoping to see smooth-billed ani at Loxahatchee, snail kite near the
casino in Shark Valley and cape sable sparrow one mile south of Mahogany Hammock
in the everglades, cave swallow in the evening at the underpass in Pranty's
book, and the Kendall tennis courts for spot-breasted oriole. We'll keep our
eyes peeled for mangrove cuckoo and white-crowned pigeon in the everglades.
As for black-whiskered vireo, king rail, clapper rail, gray kingbird and
shiny cowbird we'll just be keeping our eyes peeled.
We'll be heading out on the 11th and look forward to visiting what we're
convinced is a great state, and not just for birding!
