I don't believe that this is a problem with other ERP systems, but it sure
is with SCT Banner. It absolutely does not support RM. I haven't heard of
anyone successfully purging old records from Banner without significant SCT
assistance.

Subject: ERP systems
I'm trying to get a grip on ERP system functions. Do large scale ERP
systems such as Banner, PeopleSoft, SAP, etc. typically have no way to purge
records from the system (as in per an approved retention schedule?). In
Banner, I'm told that purges basically leave a lot of dangling pointers
looking for information and the fear is that purging anything could
unmercifully crash the system. This leaves IT with one option - keep buying
more disk space and keeping everything in perpetuity - an RIM no-no. Any
comment?
