You all have probably seen this little ARMA publication already, but I
just
snagged a copy. Finding it useful, so here's the title:
"The Sarbanes-Oxley Act: Implications for Records Management" by John
C.
Montana, JD; J. Edwin Dietal, JD; Christine S. Martins, JD
There is a brief section on the implications for privately held
companies,
nonprofits & others. Useful too for the section on implementing the
findings
of a corporate records management audit.
Recently I was shocked when my manager (during my review) told me that
my
retention schedules were too detailed. He actually was looking at my
legal
workpapers, not the schedules. I was speechless. Realizing that I
needed to
refresh the memory of someone that has very obviously forgotten why
they
hired me in the first place, I had started to feed him small bites of
basic,
general r&im information (rule #1 - never overwhelm an executive VP).
He
recently left the company, so I image I'll have to re-educate our next
EVP
of Legal!
All in a days work!
Rock on!
