Auditing and Needs Assessments of Corporate Record Programs
Speaker: Larry Bates, President ARMA Chicago Chapter
Larry Bates has been in the Records and Information Management industry
for the past 25 years. He was Corporate Records Manager at Continental
Bank and since the mid 1980's has been a consultant in Records
Management. He is currently the president of Larry Bates & Associates, a
records management consulting firm. Larry has given numerous speeches in
various parts of the country to different ARMA and AIIM chapters, he has
also been a speaker at both of their National conferences.
Topic:
In today's environment, Records Managers should also focus on auditing
corporate departments' record systems, policies, procedures, and
workflow processing. Moving from the inner circle of their own
expertise, managers are striving to collect appropriate and useful data,
understand the essence of information processing at local levels, and
establish guidelines for promoting and improving their records
management systems. Often soliciting assistance, assembling useful
information, analyzing disparate methodologies and achieving acceptance
to the records management mission can be a long and frustrating task.
This discussion will focus on proven methods, as well as clear
guideposts to assist and facilitate the records auditing function.
