Hi all,
As of 5:30pm, the power has finally gone off. It's been flashing all
afternoon. My guess is they will get it back on when this particular storm moves
through. Since I have the old fashioned telephone line access, my AOL still
works. I'm sure my laptop battery will go down soon.
We just went outside and secured the patio door under me since it was
banging. There were several places with screens torn off, but no trees
down....only ponding water on the road. We're currently going through a bad cell, so
it's pretty bad out there. A piece of 4 x 2 ft siding has come off the building
over my apt exposing the insulation and the water is coming in through the
bedroom window - just leaking, not a flood. We picked up the siding and have
stowed it in the garage. Not a crisis yet. There is a drip drip over my patio
door from the unit over me.
The entrances to Guana were locked on Friday, but you can access the main
dam entrance probably. All the state parks will be closed. The Gate gas
station will probably be closed, so have plenty of gas in your car. I am assuming
this will be all over in the next few hours as far as the bad stuff.
I am ok. I have plenty of batteries, etc. Since I am on the second floor,
I won't have direct roof damage nor flooding - other than leaks. Still
better than the other poor souls.
I would recommend Huguenot (NE FL) over Guana. If the power comes back on
and/or I have laptop use, I will update you in the morning.
There are several of us here, so not too bad.

ps-at this time, it is advisable to stay off the highways, due to flying
debris, etc.
