Hi Y'all,
My computer's acting funny, so I will keep this short.
Sunday and Monday, went looking at the ocean to see what got blown around,
hoping mostly for jaegers coming from the north. The best I did was a single
immature Northern Gannet on 9/5. Several Common Terns sat side by side with
Forster's, in fresh basic plumage, making for excellent studies. Sitting down,
the birds are plainly different. I wish they would all perch as they flew by.
Tuesday, found several shorebird species, including a Wilson's Phalarope in
full basic plumage - including the yellow legs! Only the second bird I've seen
like this, most seem to be Further south by the time their legs have changed
color. Also, a single Mallard female, and a small flock (5) of Green-winged
Teal. Hirundines were well-represented, with 5 species (Barn, N Rough-winged,
Bank, and Cave Swallows of what I believe are the Carribean race (2).
Competing for the best bird of the day was a leucistic or albino Barn Swallow
mixed in with all of the rest!
