Great birding today at Six Mile Cypress. The place is not as wet as recently,
there were not many mosquitoes, and there were beacoup warblers. This morning
from 0830 to 1030 I saw the following birds: Anhinga, Great blue heron, Great
egret, Little blue, Tricolored and Yellow crowned night-heron, Wite ibis,
Osprey, Eurasian and Mourning doves, Belted kingisher, Pileated, Downy and Red
bellied woodpeckers, Empidonax sp which I think was an Acadian flycatcher, Great
crested flycatcher, White eyed and Red eyed vireos, Tufted titmice, Carolina
wren, tons of Blue-gray gnatcatchers, Swainson's thrush, many Gray catbirds,
European starlins, Golden winged warbler, Northern parula, Chestnut sided
warbler, Black throated blue warbler, Blackburnian warbler, Yellow throated
warbler, Prairie warbler, Palm warbler, Black and white warbler, American redstart,
Worm eating warbler, Common yellowthroat, Ovenbird, Summer tanager, and the
usual Mockingbirds, Cardinals, Bluejays and Grackles. Last week I saw a beautiful
adult Bald Eagle in the park. Great day today, but boy, do I miss Lakes Park
and Sanibel Lighthouse Park!
