Good morning
Arrived at Springhill at 8am and had a walk around the ponds. Not many birds at all compared to my visit 10 days ago but there was a Cliff Swallow flying around with a mixed flock of swallows (Northern Rough-winged, Barn and Tree). 4 Great Egrets were present along with a single Western Sandpiper, an American Kestrel and 2 Savannah Sparrows.
I then proceeded to Black Swamp Nature Preserve (take springhill road north from the sewage plant and turn west on to Orange Avenue. Park on the left after about a mile near a brick pumphouse type building and follow the trail through metal gate). There were a good number of birds on the preserve including a very tame Sedge Wren in the vicinity of the gate and notice board, it showed down to a few feet at times. There were quite a few American Robins, many Gray Catbirds, 3 Indigo Buntings, an Eastern Phoebe, a Chestnut-sided Warbler, Northern Parula and many Common Yellowthroats.
Have fun
