RE: 2006-2007 FULBRIGHT INTERNATIONAL YEAR STUDY & RESEARCH AWARDS
        FOR UF STUDENTS

Graduating seniors and graduate students who want to do research or other
projects overseas can learn about successful strategies to receive a
prestigious Fulbright award at the Fulbright orientation session on
Wednesday, April 13 at 4:00 pm in 219 Dauer Hall, the Ruth McQuown Room.

Fulbright awards for graduate research at the MA and Ph.D. level, as well as
for graduating seniors, cover travel and living expenses for a year in any
of over 140 countries. Students in any field are encouraged to apply.
Application forms and examples of successful applications can be reviewed in
the Honors Office, 140 Tigert Hall.

Applicants for a Fulbright award must be U.S. citizens, have an outstanding
GPA, have a record of community service, and be interested in international
scholarship. The Fulbright campus application deadline at UF is September
25, 2005; paper copies of the applications must be submitted to the
Fulbright Program Advisors in 140 Tigert Hall by that date, so work on the
application should begin immediately. Note that the campus deadline is
earlier than the national deadline of October 21, 2005, so that all UF
applicants can be interviewed on campus as required.

Students should access the on-line application directly through the website
at www.iie.org/fulbright/us, in the Application Center link. The Fulbright
website has more information at www.iie.org/fulbright about the program.
The applications for the 2006-2007 year will be available on May 1, 2005.

For the 2004-2005 academic year, there were 34 applicants from the
University of Florida, and 10 students have been forwarded successfully to
the respective countries (they are awaiting final decisions). For more
information about the UF application process, contact Dr. Jeanna
Mastrodicasa at [log in to unmask] Dr. Aida Bamia, the awards advisor, may be
reached at [log in to unmask]
