RE:     CHARLOTTE W. NEWCOMBE DOCTORAL DISSERTATION FELLOWSHIP


The Charlotte W. Newcome Doctoral Dissertation Fellowship is for doctoral
students engaged in original and significant study of ethical or religious
values in all areas of human endeavor.  It awards $18,500 for 12 months of
full-time dissertation writing.  Approximately 28 fellows will be chosen for
this award.

Applicants must be Doctor of Philosophy or Doctor of Theology candidates
enrolled in humanities or social science doctoral programs at graduate
schools in the United States, who have completed all doctoral requirements,
including approval of their dissertation proposals, and expect to complete
their dissertations by the summer of 2007.

Applications must be filed online.  Required supporting documents an
abstract, dissertation proposal, graduate school transcripts, selected
bibliography, three recommendation letters and a timetable for completion.
The application deadline is Monday, 7 November 2005.  Selected fellows will
be announced in April 2006.  Awards will begin in June 2006 or September
2006.
