HONORS OFFICE ANNOUNCEMENTS

1. ATTENTION OUT-OF-STATE NATIONAL MERITS AND ACHIEVEMENTS:
Please be aware that you do not have to pay your tuition by this Friday.
Your tuition fees are automatically deferred until the middle of
November (you can check that on ISIS). The out of state fee waivers have
already started showing up. If you check on ISIS, you should be able to
see this information.

Also, to clarify the last message, those students who usually get money
back after the scholarship has been disbursed (after tuition, housing,
etc has been paid out) will be receiving a refund check. You do not need
to pay for anything yet. Wait until your scholarship has cleared, your
waiver has been cleared and then check ISIS to see whether or not you
will have a credit on your account or whether or not you owe the
university more.

2. FRAN'S OFFICE HOURS:
Fran Green, the National Merit and Achievement Scholarship Coordinator,
will be holding office hours in 140 Tigert at the following times:
Mondays and Thursdays, 9:00am-12:00pm; Tuesdays and Wednesdays,
1:00-4:00pm. If you have questions regarding your National Merit or
Achievement Scholarship, you should be able to reach her in the office
during those times.

3. HONORS PLANNERS:
We still have a few planners left. If you did not receive a planner and
would like one, stop by 140 Tigert to pick up one. While supplies last!

First and second year students who have not registered to attend a
pre-health workshop (registration currently full) are required to watch
a videotaped version of the workshop PRIOR to meeting with a pre-health
advisor. The videos are available at the Office of Health and Legal
Professions Advising, located on the 2nd floor of the Academic Advising
Center. You will sign out the video and view it on the first floor
Learning Resource Center room. Please give yourself 2 hours to view the
entire workshop.

If you are unable to view the video, you should read the online
Pre-Health Handbook at http://www.advising.ul.edu/prehealth. This
resource contains a wealth of information that can answer many of the
basic questions, such as those posed in the workshops, required and
recommended courses, timelines, dropping courses, taking classes outside
UF. Reading the handbook prior to seeing an advisor will make your
advising session more meaningful and effective with "easily answered"
questions are eliminated.

The OHLPA Assistant will be asking you if any one of the three criteria
whenever you are scheduling an appointment for pre-health advising.
Attendance to workshops will be verified based on sign-in sheets and
viewing of the videotapes will be verified based on the sign-out log.
All first and second year students will be scheduled to meet with
Christine Richmond. All third year students and beyond will be scheduled
to meet with Robert Kwong. Students who are interested in applying for
the Junior Honors Medical Program or who are in the application process
for the Junior Honors Medical Program may meet with either Robert or
Christine.
