Birders,
Bad news (?)
When checking out SRP for migrants this morning Chadda & I discovered
that they have started to bulldoze "the field," the premier birding spot
in the park (through the bushes to the east of the first stop sign after
the north toll booth). The good news is that they are removing Brazilian
Peppers and those nasty Knicker Beans which I have been pruning for the
last 2 years. So far they have left the feeding trees (Ficus?) but this
may be initial work for developing this area :-(
Birding was slow but migrants are trickling in:
WARBLERS:
7 redstart
2 Black & white
3 parula
3 ovenbirds
3 prairie
1 prothonotary
1 worm eating
OTHER:
red-eyed vireo
Yesterday I missed the parulas and B & W, but had 3 N water thrushes, a
screech owl, and 2 piliated woodpeckers.
Looks like a good start to the fall season.
