Went to SMNWR this morning but didnt see very much as it was foggy and breezy so went to Bald Pt and spent 4 hours birding and had the following highlights
12 American Redstart
2 Chestnut-sided
1 Magnolia
1 Blackburnian
2 Yellow-throated
1 Black & White
2 Prairie
1 Tennessee
Common Yellowthroat and Pine abundant
lots of Palm Warblers and Gray Catbirds
9 Indigo Buntings
3 Ruby-crowned Kinglets
1 Swainson's Thrush
3 Red-eyed Vireo
1 Acadian Flycatcher
1 Summer Tanager
1 Merlin
1 American Kestrel
1 Northern Harrier
1 Marbled Godwit
1 Savannah Sparrow
and both Sedge and House Wren
I stopped by Jack's house on the way home and was treated to splendid views of 2 White-winged Doves, Eastern Phoebe, Northern Flicker, Scarlet Tanager and Swainson's Thrush along with many resident birds including great looks at Brown-headed Nuthatch.
I met a couple on vacation who saw 2 American Avocets at SMNWR yesterday whilst walking the mounds trail.
