Huguenot Memorial Park, Duval Co. - Just three piping plovers present this morning but one a (prior year, winter-resident) Great Lake's bird and a Nebraska-banded plover seen just the week before about 20 miles north in Cumberland Sound. >300 Red Knot foraging on minute clam spat on the bayside flats with 11 banded at multiple locations along the FL Gulf and Atlantic seaboard. Several Reddish egret with one in contrasting adult plumage. Nos. of Great Blue Heron and Great Egret with some attempting to rob the bait fisherman of their unguarded catch. Roosting flocks of larids on bayside flats with many Caspian (two color-banded) Sandwich, Royal and Forster's tern along with Black Skimmers. Good nos. of Wilson's plovers remaining on the high wash flats. Several fly-overs by migrant Peregrines and Merlins. Usual assortment of shorebirds foraging across the exposed flats. Ditto for the human activities throughout the park and its habitats.
