Hi all - Today I relocated the female Surf scoter and female Long-tailed
ducks first reported yesterday at Manatee Hammock Campground/Park located on US 1
south of SR 405 in Brevard Co. The birds were seen from the fishing pier at
the back end of the park which is open for day visitors who are not camping. The
Long-tailed duck was seen south of the pier in with a small group of Lesser
Scaup near some private fishing docks. The Surf Scoter was seen after much
searching through several rafts of hundreds of scaup south of the "Slow Speed
Manatee Zone sign. Also seen were two Horned Grebes in the river and a Spotted
Sandpiper on the rocks near the pier.
