HONORS ANNOUNCEMENTS
1. ADVISING ANNOUNCEMENT: Attention Out-of-state National Merit &
Achievement Scholars:
If you are an out-of-state student who plans on attending summer
classes, in order to use your nine credits of out-of-state fee waiver,
you must turn in the summer fee waiver form that can be found off the
Honors website (http://www.honors.ufl.edu/forms.html) or in 140 Tigert
Hall. This form must be turned in by the end of summer drop/add to Fran
Green. Summer A/C drop/add ends May 15, and Summer B drop/add ends July
3.

STUDENT HONORS ORGANIZATION ANNOUNCEMENTS
2. EVENT: Rock the Vote Ice-cream Float (NEW POSTING):
Plan ahead for the ultimate Honors combo: politics and ice-cream! The
annual special-edition of Sundaes on Sunday, Rock the Vote Ice-cream
Float, will take place at Hume at 8:00pm this Sunday, April 1. No
foolin'. Enjoy some delicious dessert while getting informed about the
candidates for the 2007-2008 SHO officer positions. For more info and
candidate profiles, check out www.honors.ufl.edu/sho . Voting will take
place online from Sunday evening through April 4 at 11:59pm. Make sure
you VOTE!
Also, the next SHO General Meeting will be on Tuesday, April 24, at 7:00

3. EVENT: CROP Night (NEW POSTING):
SHO social committee will be hosting a CROP night for scrapbookers on
April 3 at Hume Commons from 8:00-9:30pm! CROP stands for Creative
Results on Paper, and it's a time for scrapbookers to get together and
scrapbook together. You end up learning a lot from seeing other people's
pages, and it's a lot of fun and no experience is necessary. If you've
never scrapbooked before, we'll have some supplies and instructions.
Someone will be there to help you get started, so just come with some
developed/printed pictures and your creativity! Also, all participants
will be entered in a free raffle for several things related to
scrapbooking!

4. RESEARCH: Research/Editorial Assistant for Radiation Oncology
Department:
The Radiation Oncology department in the College of Medicine is seeking
a part-time student assistant for its research office who will be
available to work approximately 20 hours a week during business hours.
This assistant will both help the editor prepare manuscripts for
publication (by proofreading and editing, formatting per journal
specifications, and scanning and manipulating images) and provide data
management support. Eligible employees will be English, journalism, or
communications majors or minors, or they will have strong writing and
grammar skills. Necessary technical skills include proficiency in the
Microsoft Office Suite and a willingness to learn new technologies.
This job can also fulfill internship requirements, but we are looking
for a candidate who will stay on after the internship is fulfilled.
Eligible employees will be available to begin on May 1. Interested

5. LEADERSHIP: Homecoming and Gator Growl Directorship
Applications:
Want to be a part of the world's largest student-run Homecoming
celebration? Homecoming and Gator Growl second-round directorship
applications are now available in the FBK office. They are due on
Monday, April 9 at 4:00pm. All applicants should remember to sign up for
an interview. If you have any questions, please contact Elizabeth

6. EVENT: Bowling Tournament for Measles Week (NEW POSTING):
Red Cross Gators are hosting several different events during "Measles
Week" to raise money to fight this disease. Come out to the Reitz Union
Bowling Alley from 6:00-10:00pm on Tuesday, April 3, and bowl to help
raise money for measles. There will be a small fee to bowl, and any
donations are always welcomed! Invite your friends, and thanks for your
support.
If you are interested in competing, please e-mail Lindsay at
[log in to unmask] so we can have some idea of how many people to expect.
There will also be several prizes for those really good bowlers.
7. EVENT: Christian Study Center Lecture Series (NEW POSTING):
Announcing the Spring Lecture Series - "The Poet as Priest: Poetry and
Transcendence" featuring faculty and students from the Department of
English at UF.
On Tuesday, April 3 at 8:00pm join Randi Marie Smith, doctoral student
in the Department of English for "Poets of the Temple: Movements of the
Soul in the Poetry of Robert Southwell, Francis Quarles, and George
Herbert."
All lectures are held at the Christian Study Center at 112 NW 16th

8. EVENT: Conflict in the Congo - Speech and Film (NEW POSTING):
On Tuesday, April 3, Human Rights Awareness on Campus will present
Gilbert Mulamba, a Congolese man who produced a documentary on child
soldiers and resource conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo. He
will speak on his experiences and then screen the film. The event will
take place in the 1002 NPB at 7:30pm.
9. EVENT: Net Neutrality Talk:
Professor Shubho Bandyopadhyay will be discussing his research on net
neutrality. Using game theory models, he counter-intuitively found that
broadband providers would be more likely to improve Internet service if
they were barred from charging for preferential treatment.
His talk will be at 6:30pm on Monday, April 2 in the 121 Reitz Union
(Johnson Lounge). For more information about their research, see

10. EVENT: Basketball at the Orange and Brew:
Come out this Saturday to watch the Men's Final Four Basketball games at
the Orange and Brew! Doors will open at 6:00pm. You can enjoy the great
food and drinks while you watch both games to see who will make it to
the championship game. The Gator's take on the UCLA at 8:47pm!
11. EVENT: Florida Players Present Godspell (TODAY):
Florida Players, UF's student-run theatre company, is excited to present
GODSPELL, the first of two musicals in the Spring 2007 season. The
musical will begin its limited engagement at the Nadine McGuire Black
Box Theatre from March 29 through April 1.
Show times are March 29 and March 30 at 7:30pm, March 31 at 1:30pm and
7:30pm, and April 1 at 1:30pm. As always, the performances are free and

12. EVENT: Pakistani Cultural Show:
This coming Sunday, April 1 at 6:30pm, the UF Pakistani Students
Association will be hosting its 11th annual Cultural Show at the
University Memorial Auditorium. The show will be a snapshot of Pakistani
Culture featuring everything from song and dance to poetry readings and
even a fashion show. We are aiming to make this the best PSA show ever
so tell all of your family members, relatives, friends, coworkers, pets,
random people you meet at the grocery store, and any and everyone about
it!
