DIRECTOR
FLORIDA INSTITUTE FOR SUSTAINABLE ENERGY
The University of Florida is seeking nominations and applications for a
Director of the Florida Institute for Sustainable Energy. The primary
goal of the Institute is to enhance the internal and external linkages
needed for the University of Florida to discover and transfer valued
scientific, engineering, management, and policy information associated
with sustainable energy systems at the state, national, and
international levels. The candidate must have a strong record of
scholarship and leadership, along with the ability to work
collaboratively with internal and external constituencies. Applicants
should have demonstrated expertise in energy-related research as
evidenced by scientific publications and external funding in the area of
energy. Excellent communication skills will be necessary for
interacting with the public and policy makers and for actively
participating in the interdisciplinary research and education programs.
Candidates must also have a commitment to UF’s core values of
excellence, diversity, global involvement and accountability. The
successful applicant will be expected to lead the diverse energy
interests within the University of Florida to facilitate
interdisciplinary collaboration, national and international visibility.
In addition the Director will coordinate research, education and
outreach efforts to address contemporary and future energy needs of the
nation. This position will report to the Vice President for Research.
Job Duties: Facilitate UF's diverse energy research, education, and
outreach programs that span various colleges and disciplines.
Coordinate and promote collaborative projects in energy production from
diverse sources and feedstocks. Promote interactions amongst faculty
with energy expertise to develop multidisciplinary research and grant
initiatives. Coordinate efforts with the UF Foundation, Government
Relations, and Sustainability offices to raise UF's profile and attract
major funding from State, Federal and industrial sources.
