Hey folks,
This Thursday at 5PM we will be having a geocaching event to introduce new students to the club. The basic idea is to have two teams that have both walking and biking participants. We'll give several people in each group the coordinates to 4 caches around campus; each of these caches will contain part of the coordinates for the 5th cache. The first team to find the 5th cache and return to Yon Hall wins.
I thought Florida Pool would be open so I listed that as the meeting point, but since it's not, we'll just have to station a bunch of people at each entry point and funnel them to Yon Hall. Please show up and take part (and wear your t-shirt if you have one); I'm guessing the race will take about half an hour and will be followed by the meeting. The idea with this is not to provide a serious geocaching competition, but just to give everyone an excuse to goof off and talk to new people about what we do. If you can think of a prize to give the winning team, let me know.
Also, I need people to help set up the race on Wednesday. Let's just plan to meet at Yon Hall at 5 - bring a bike (and a gps if you have one). I bought some tupperware containers; if you have any random, worthless "treasures" you want to stick in them, bring those along.
Oh yeah, and I survived my trip to Panama (though not without contracting one or more weird tropical diseases) - you can check out the pictures/log here: http://jdepree.googlepages.com/20080621panama.html
