Or,perhaps you could take ownership, ask for a promotion to Director,
Information Governance & Compliance and just carve out a new role for
yourself where you can design your job description with more authority
and perhaps realign somewhere that you will have the ability to make
recommendations to IT at a higher level?

Just a thought!
