Carl Goodrich called in with a report of a "wave" but nothing rare. All observations at Fort Zachary Taylor.
Palm Warblers 300
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher 50
No. Parula 30
Black & White Warbler 20
Blue & Rose-breasted Grosbeak, Indigo & Painted Bunting, Black & Yellow-crowned Night Herons & Green Herons.
Of special interest were many swallows with a first for Carl in Key West, Cave Swallows of the Caribbean race. He also had a few Cave Swallows of the Caribbean race yesterday plus two Cave Swallows of the Mexican race..
The Mexican race of Cave Swallow is what is usually observed in Key West and my experience on the Dry Tortugas has been only with the Mexican race. Interesting!
