What is a license if it is not??
a. Agreements formalizing performance criteria for ...quality
of service, including definition of responsibilities, ... integrity
guarantees...
Destroy/delete 3 years after agreement is superseded or terminated.
Over time, we've found that because the GRS is just that (General) specific
words may not be included to describe items exactly as they are named/known
in all situations, so you have to attempt to apply the closest description.
Odds are if you were to submit an SF115 to NARA asking them to provide a
specific retention period for "Software Licenses" and gave all the necessary
descriptive data to allow them to make their determination, the appraisal
Archivist would come back with GRS 24, Item 9a as the guidance to use.
3 yrs after the end of the licensing period is relatively consistent with
most lower value procurement documents, and it more than satisfies business
needs, and personally I think it would be defensible. (I think this in part
because it's what we follow)
