Today, 2/9, Gary Davis from Jacksonville called me to look for the
Black-headed Gull. I told him that it would probably not be on the beach
early in the day and he might try along the road beside the Halifax
River just south of Aunt Catfish's restaurant. There are some docks
about 1/4 - 1/2 mile south of the restaurant that are favorite hangouts
for Bonaparte's Gulls. Since Black-headed Gulls like to associate with
Bonaparte's, I suggested he try there.
Gary just called and he found the Black-headed Gull sitting on the dock
with the Bonaparte's Gulls.
This is all private property, but you can view this spot from your car
on this road. Do not go on the dock!!
Take I-95 to the Port Orange exit, exit 256, take Dunlawton Avenue east
to just past US1. Turn right (south) on the road just before Aunt
Catfish's Restaurant. Go about 1/4-1/2 mile look on the left on the
docks. DO NOT WALK ON THE DOCKS OR THE PROPERTY.
