About 7 years ago or so there was a case in New Mexico where a company
sold a pipeline and buried documents in the desert. Not sure why they
did this..

Maybe it was a document preservation thing -- low humidity and all.
"Total Retention: 75 Years. Office Retention: 2 Years. Desert Retention:
73 Years."

Up here in Western PA we bury documents in old limestone mines, so I
guess I can't talk....
