This past year, we have had a high level of success with Fulbright; students have been accepted to spend next academic year in Australia, Uganda, Malaysia, and Belgium, and other places. 14 out of 26 UF applicants were nominated by the U.S. to the various countries, which is an even higher percentage than the usual one out of three from UF. Information session There will be an information session on Wednesday, May 22 from 12:30 pm to 1:45 pm (period 4) in 219 Dauer Hall (Ruth McQuown Room) about the Fulbright program. Students are welcome to bring a brown bag lunch to the information session. UF students have the opportunity to win a Fulbright award to any of over 140 different countries. The awards are for graduating college seniors, as well for as graduate research at the MA and Ph.D. level. Students in any field can apply. Applicants for a Fulbright award must be U.S. citizens, have a strong GPA, have a record of community service, and be interested in international scholarship. The awards fund research and study for up to a year in a different country. Awards cover international travel, maintenance, research allowance, and tuition waivers, if applicable. Students must create a project proposal and submit a personal statement in addition to basic information in the application. Students are strongly encouraged to begin work on the applications immediately, and more information can be found on the Fulbright web site at . A password and signon is required to work on the application, and can be obtained from the information session or in 140 Tigert Hall.
