Content-Type: text/html It's been well documented that turtle nesting has increased dramatically since Congress created the Archie Carr National Wildlife Refuge in Florida, USA. The number of loggerhead nests has doubled (around 10,000 in 1988; over 20,000 in '98). Green turtle nests have increased by an order of magnitude (300 to 3,000). Can anyone who's studied this tell me the primary cause of these increases? The three candidates seem to be: 1) The use of TEDs, 2) increased land acquisition for the refuge and 3) the protections afforded by the ESA. Anyone know which of these (or other) advances is most responsible for increased nesting? Cheers, Osha ================================ Osha Gray Davidson Web-site: www.oshadavidson.com 301 E.
