Asunto: Award for excellence to Diego Amorocho

Dear All,
Dr Diego Amorocho was yesterday announced as a winner of the 2009 Mollie Holman medal at Monash University Australia, for his PhD thesis on foraging ecology and population genetics of east Pacific green turtles in Colombia.  The award recognises excellence in a PhD thesis and is presented by the university to one student in the faculty each year.  Diego's accomplishment is even more impressive considering he had to divide his time between fieldwork in Colombia and on-campus attendance with me in Australia.  Diego continues his vital conservation work in Colombia, and this award confirms the quality of work that can be done in the region.
Please join me in congratulating Diego on this outstanding award.
Regards,
Richard

Dear All,

I am delighted to report that the 2009 Mollie Holman Doctoral Medal (for
excellence in PhD theses) has been awarded to Diego Amorocho.

Diego's thesis was entitled Foraging Ecology and Population Structure of
the Green Sea Turtle (Chedonia mydas) in the Eastern Pacific Coast of
Colombia, and was completed last year under the supervision of Richard
Reina.

This is a highly competitive award and Diego is to be congratulated on
this achievement (well done to Richard also!).

John
