This is a reminder for the seminars of Dr. Herman Karl and Dr. Juan Carlos Vargas-Moreno today, and tomorrow respectively.

Dr. Herman Karl retired from the U.S. Geological Survey, holds position of Affiliate Associate Professor with the University of New Hampshire, Department of Natural Resources and Environment will visit UF as a speaker in a Florida Climate Institute Seminar on Wednesday, December 1, 2010 from 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM in Room 282 J. Wayne Reitz Union. His seminar is entitled “Are New Institutions and Decision-making Processes Needed to Adapt to Climate Change?” and is co-hosted by the UF Water Institute.  Dr. Karl will discuss the groups and communities that must be included in developing adaptation strategies for society to survive changing climate. He feels we must develop a truly participatory, collaborative process that combines deliberation with analysis in an inclusive process; it must become a way of thinking and doing that infuses our current governance and decision-making processes and helps to guide their evolution, and it must grow from the grass roots up.  (If you cannot attend in person, follow this link to view: http://mediasite.video.ufl.edu/mediasite/Viewer/?peid=aed2de90712c4a34b39561658b14cb8d1d )
