Anyway 'no pain no gain' :)

I need a reference to good howto on syslog levels and facilities, i.e.
local1-7.* , LOG_LOCAL etc.
'man syslog' is my best friend, but this time it's a bit hazy.

Example, in clamd.conf I set logging facility LOG_LOCAL6. what does this
mean?? How to choose?
