Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, Kansas, has a full-time,
tenure-track, faculty position for an Academic Achievement Center
Facilitator.
Position Open: Academic Achievement Center Facilitator
Division: Academic - Liberal Arts
Responsibilities: Will oversee the daily operations of the Academic
Achievement Center, which offers a variety of self-paced credit courses
including study skills, reading, vocabulary, spelling, math, algebra prep,
chemistry prep, and medical terminology. Will teach courses offered by the
center and lead the faculty. Responsibilities include teaching, overseeing
students' individualized programs, supervising/helping students and faculty
coworkers, creating and correcting tests, developing evaluative instruments
and instructional materials,
maintaining accurate student records, and assisting with selection, training
and scheduling of AAC staff.
Position Status: Full-time, regular, faculty appointment leading to
continuing contract eligibility. Ten-month position. Starting date:
August 7, 2000.
Required Qualifications:
*Master's degree in reading, developmental education, adult education or
closely related field.
*Post-secondary teaching experience in developmental education and learning
lab setting.
*Experience as a lead teacher, learning center director or other relevant
leadership experience.
*Ability to work as a member of a learning team as well as independently
*Excellent communication skills.
*Ability to oversee a wide array of teaching; learning and working
activities.
*Knowledge of current technology-based instruction.
*Knowledge of current issues and trends in post-secondary education.
Preferred Qualifications:
*Experience in individualized instruction in learning lab setting.
*Knowledge of Windows, especially Word and Excel.
