CNRS -- National Center for Scientific Research, Paris, France
Three Post-doctoral Positions -- Modeling of social networks/complex
systems

Three post-doctoral positions are offered in the field of social
network and complex system modeling, including one 3-year position on
"quality collectives" and two 1-year positions on blog networks and
opinion diffusion.
Herebelow are short descriptions of each of the positions -- for more
details, including application and employment details, please download
the full job adverts here: http://camille.roth.free.fr/projects.php

1.

One Postdoctoral Position Offer: European Project "QLectives"

We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher to join CNRS to
contribute to the study of the dynamics of techno-social systems and
quality collectives. Experience and knowledge of research in graph
theory and social network analysis, complex systems modeling and
simulation-based modeling would all be advantageous. Additional
notions and curiosity for internet studies, science and technology
studies would be appreciated.
The position will be based at CAMS (Centre d’Analyse et de
Mathématique Sociales), a joint unit of CNRS and EHESS located in the
heart of Paris.

The post, which may last up to three years, takes place within the
European project QLectives ( http://www.qlectives.eu ), which brings
together social modelers, peer-to-peer experts, computer scientists
and physicists to design and deploy self-organizing collaborative
“quality” knowledge production and sharing systems.

Applications received by October 25, 2009 will receive fullest
consideration, but applications will continue to be accepted until the
position is filled. Interviews are expected to be held around the end
of October 2009/beginning of November, while the contract may start
*on or after* November 9th, 2009.
For informal discussions, please contact Dr. Camille Roth ( [log in to unmask]
) and Dr. Frédéric Amblard ( [log in to unmask] ).

2.

Two Postdoctoral Position Offers: ANR Project "Webfluence"

We are looking for two postdoctoral researchers to join CNRS to
contribute to the study of the dynamics of blog networks, in
particular their morphogenesis and the information/opinion diffusion
processes occuring therein. Experience and knowledge of research in
graph theory, social network analysis and complex systems modeling
would all be advantageous. Additional notions and curiosity for
internet studies would be appreciated.

The two posts, which both are one-year fixed-term contracts, take
place within Webfluence ( http://webfluence.csregistry.org ), an ANR-
financed project active from January 2009 until December 2010. The
project gathers CNRS (CREA/Institute of Complex Systems, Paris),
University of Paris-VI (LIP6), Orange Labs and RTGI; bringing together
social modelers, computer scientists, sociologists, mathematicians,
physicists, and engineers. Part of the project specifically endeavors
at describing, interpreting, modeling and reconstructing the structure
and dynamics of specific socio-semantic networks of the blogosphere
(including for instance French blogs of political opinion, blogs
dealing with leisure activities, etc.).

Applications received by October 31, 2009 will receive fullest
consideration, but applications will continue to be accepted until
positions are filled. Interviews are expected to be held around during
the first two weeks of November, while the contract may start *on or
after* December 1st, 2009.
For informal discussions, please contact Dr. Camille Roth ( [log in to unmask]
  ).
