Computer conferencing is where CLASS HAPPENS. It is the give and take of a
classroom. It is the teaching and the learning. Web pages alone do not teach.
If you want to know your students, if you want to capture the feel of a
classroom, computer conferencing is where it is.
We have discussions, debates, reviews, reports, questions, answers, alerts,
announcements, introductions, welcomes, student unions, tutoring, helpful
hints, chats, office hours, engaging conversation, critical thinking and much
more.
Before they were web pages, there was computer conferencing. Without it, you
may have online information dissemination, but you don't have an online
class. <grin>

<< Dear Group,
I am interested in conferencing in my web course next semester and have
read about computer conferencing. What do you use to conference in your web
course and why do you use that?
Thanks,
Katy
