FCLA implemented use of the 856 |9 some time ago to display anchor text for
WebLUIS links (instead of the URL itself). There has now been an "official"
decision to use |y for the same thing.
I just checked with Mary Ann and she says that both |9 and |y will work in
WebLUIS; there is no need to change any DBL records.
At some point we may want to run a global change to convert these, but there
is no rush.

Subject: 856 subfield 9 to y
Right after the CAGER call today, I saw a message on Intercat asking if
anyone has implemented 856 $y. Instead of replying that the SUS is using
$9 for the same thing & that $9 will be changed to $y in 2 days when the
mainframe tag table changes move to production, I'm changing $9 to $y now
in Catalyst and will advertise our use of it.
I'll run another global change on 856 $9's later to catch any that may
Send me an email if you'd like the Catalyst tag tables that are almost
done. I still need to add some of the updates from the latest OCLC
Technical Bulletin, but the 856 $y is already added.
