I'm thinking about how people fragment their identity (in both the
physical and digital world). One direction i would like to follow is how
people fragment their social networks to maintain these fragmented
elements of self. (Loosely related to this, i am also curious if the axes
by which we can measure homophily differ between fragments.)
I'm aware of Burt's work on structural holes, but i'm not sure what else
is out there. Can anyone offer any related social networks texts that
might be helpful in thinking about this problem? Or, if anyone knows of
any related work, pointers would be most fabulous!
