Thanks to those of you who responded to my request for help to acquaint
peacemaker Paula Green with social network analysis, specifically:
1. Texts which would give her a quick introduction to the field of social
network analysis, particularly which would give her social network
language to construct the meaning of "the most influential members" of a
society.
2. References to practical methods for locating influentials, derived
from network analytic research.
Here's a summary of recommendations received:
Rogers, E. M. and Kincaid, L. Communication Network Analysis, is a good
introductory book and overview of social network analysis from an
interpersonal communication perspective.
Research on "opinion leadership" is one area of special interest. I
recommend Everett M. Rogers' book, Diffusion of Innovations, Free Press.
This is a theory/research based applied text.
E.Lazega (2001),'The Collegial Phenomenon: The Social Mechanisms of
Cooperation Among Peers in a Corporate Law Partnership', Oxford University
Press.
Wasserman, S. & Faust, K. (1994). Social network analysis: Methods and
applications. New York: Cambridge University Press.

innovations using opinion leaders. The Annals of the American Academy of
the Political and Social Sciences, 566, 55-67.
