Subject: Last Reminder: IF YOU ARE GRADUATING IN SUMMER 2002

IF YOU ARE GRADUATING IN SUMMER 2002
Certifying your degree is a three-step process: The department certifies to
the college that all specific course and program requirements have been
satisfactorily fulfilled; the college then certifies to the Graduate School
that all college degree requirements have been satisfactorily fulfilled; the
Graduate School certifies that all Graduate Council policies and University
of Florida requirements have been satisfactorily fulfilled. The University
of Florida awards the degree.

The following information is provided by the Graduate School. It is
important that you communicate with your department regarding these and any
additional requirements.

1. The late degree application deadline for Summer 2002 term is WEDNESDAY,
JULY 3 at 5:00 p.m. The form is online at
http://www.reg.ufl.edu/pdf/latedeginfo.pdf (Department and college approval
are required in the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences and the College of
Engineering.) There is no charge. NOTE: Late degree applications will not be
accepted after this date. Students who miss this deadline may "clear prior"
for Fall 2002. (See definition of "clear prior" in the Graduate Catalog at
http://gradschool.rgp.ufl.edu/gradcat/2002-2003/regulations.html

2. A degree application does not “carry over” from the previous term. The
student is required to reapply for the new term in accordance with the
published deadline. This is also the case for students approved by the
Graduate School to “clear prior” for the current semester.

3. Students who submitted a thesis or dissertation for Spring 2002, who did
not graduate in Spring and did not clear prior for Summer 2002, are NOT
automatically added to the Summer graduation submissions. To graduate in the
Summer, these students must meet the first submission deadlines for theses
or dissertations.

4. Unless "cleared prior," students must meet minimum registration
requirements and be appropriately registered in courses that count toward
the degree. Doctoral students should be registered for two credits of 7980
and master's-thesis students should be registered for two credits of 6971
(or project hours, if appropriate). Students with an assistantship or
fellowship must be appropriately registered for their appointment.

5. All changes to the Supervisory Committee including a change from thesis
to nonthesis, and requests for Transfer of Credit must be completed by
WEDNESDAY, July 3.

6. Resolution of problem grades (Incompletes or NG) must be completed by
MONDAY, JULY 29. Contact your department about any outstanding issues.

7. Students are required to have a 3.0 GPA overall AND 3.0 GPA in the major
(and minor, if applicable) to graduate.
