IMPORTANT ADMINISTRATIVE INFORMATION:
1. FEE PAYMENT DEADLINE: Fees are due Friday, January 18 by 3:30pm. The
ISIS Bulletin Board has a direct link under Important Dates to make an
online payment at <http://www.isis.ufl.edu>.

2. SPRING 2002 CAREER SHOWCASE: Career Showcase is a two-day career fair
for all majors looking for a co-op, internship or full-time employment. Ask
questions about your future and start your job search at Career Showcase,
January 23 and 24 in the Stephen C. O'Connell Center. Visit

3. OMBUDSMAN OFFICE MOVED: The Office of the Ombudsman, whose purpose is
to assist members of the university community in solving problems and
conflicts, has moved. Tommie Howard, Ombudsman for Undergraduate Students,
has relocated to room 31 Tigert Hall. For information call 392-1308 or visit

4. FINANCIAL AID RENEWAL MATERIALS TO BE MAILED: Students who applied for
2001-02 aid should receive a 2002-03 Renewal Free Application for Federal
Student Aid (FAFSA) or an electronic Federal PIN from the federal processor
by the end of January. Renewal applicants who do not receive one of these by
the end of January should complete a regular FAFSA immediately to meet UF's
2002-03 financial aid application deadline: March 15, 2002. For more

5. SPRING AND SUMMER FINANCIAL AID STILL AVAILABLE: Financial aid for
2001-02 is still available for UF students through some programs.
Applications for Federal Student Aid and Gator Aid Application Guides for
the 2001-02 academic year are available in S-107 Criser. Check with your
financial aid adviser if you have questions. Early spring is also the time
to plan ahead for summer aid if you plan to attend UF in summer term 2002.

6. EMERGENCY SHORT-TERM LOANS: The Office for Student Financial Affairs
offers an emergency short-term loan. UF students can borrow up to $1,000 or
the amount of in-state tuition to pay emergency educational expenses if they
are enrolled at least half-time and have a verifiable repayment source.
Spring UF Short-Term Loan applications will be available at S-107 Criser
Hall on January 4th. Approval takes about two to three days. Disbursement
begins after the first day of classes. Spring 2002 loans must be repaid by
3:30 pm, April 1, 2002.

7. STUDENT EMPLOYMENT: Students who plan to work through Federal
Work-Study or the Other Personnel Services program must go to the Student
Financial Affairs Student Employment counter in S-107 Criser Hall to obtain
a work permit, or call 392-0296 to request one. To find a student job, check
the online student job lists at: <http://www.sfa.ufl.edu/job.html>.

8. CLAST EXAM: Friday, January 18 is the deadline for those students
needing to take the CLAST (College Level Academic Skills Test). Information
concerning CLAST is available at <http://www.reg.ufl.edu/clast.html>.
Check your degree audit on ISIS to see if you have already met the CLAST by
Alternative Method. General information on the Alternative Method for
meeting CLAST is found at <http://www.reg.ufl.edu/pdf/clastalt1.pdf>.

EDUCATIONAL ENHANCEMENT OPPORTUNITIES:
9. 12TH ANNUAL PEOPLE AWARENESS WEEK:
People Awareness Week (PAW) is held each year at the University of Florida
as a week-long series of events sponsored by various groups, academic
departments, organizations and staff. Together, PAW is a celebration of the
diverse student body, faculty and staff of UF. The entire calendar can be
viewed at <http://www.dso.ufl.edu/PAW>. Some of the remaining events
include Friday night's Gator Nights program at the J. Wayne Reitz Union
(JWRU): Different People: One Purpose A Talent Showcase Ensemble, doors
open at 6:30 pm in the Rion Ballroom, sponsored by SG Multicultural Affairs
and STAAR; free film: Training Day, 9:00 pm & 11:30 pm, JWRU Auditorium;
Different People One Purpose Extravaganza, 9:00 pm, North Terrace and
Colonnade sponsored by SG Multicultural Affairs and STAAR; performance by
Skott Freedman, 10:00 pm, Baja Tortilla Grill sponsored by PRIDE Student
Union; Different People, One Purpose Jam with DJ Sabroso, 10:00 pm, Rion
Ballroom sponsored by SG Multicultural Affairs and STAAR. For more

10. PEER LEADERS FOR FIRST YEAR FLORIDA SOUGHT: Peer Leaders are paired
with a faculty instructor to teach a section of UF's extended orientation
course, First Year Florida, for new students. Applications are due by 5:00
pm on January 28, and all applicants must attend the group interview on
Thursday, January 31 from 5 pm to 9 pm. For more information about the
position, including requirements, responsibilities, and the application, go

being held Thursday, January 17 from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm in 349 Reitz Union.

11. WOMEN'S HISTORY MONTH MINI-GRANTS: Mini grants for Women's History
Month are available to student organizations. Applications can be obtained
at: <http://www.dso.ufl.edu/WHM/default.html>. Additionally, any events
to include in the Women's History Month Calendar are welcome, and can be
submitted on the website.

12. CAMPUS DIPLOMATS SEEKING NEW MEMBERS: Campus Diplomats are searching
the swamp for their newest members. Applications are available from 202
Peabody, the Reitz Union info desk, and on line at
<http://www.dso.ufl.edu/Diplomats/Diplomats.html>. They are due to Peabody
Hall by Friday, January 25 at 5:00 pm. Campus Diplomats will be holding and
Information Session Wed., Jan 23 in Peabody Hall at 6:00 pm. For more info

13. DANZA DANCE AUDITIONS: DANZA dance company is having auditions for
their spring company Thursday, January 17 at 8:30 pm at the Student
Recreation and Fitness Center Aerobics Room. For more information email
