Friday, January 25 by 5:00 pm. S-U Option forms are available in 222
Criser Hall. Subject to college degree program and department guidelines,
students may take elective course work and earn grades of S (Satisfactory)
or U (Unsatisfactory). Once the S-U option is approved, students may not
revert to a letter grade, nor elect the S-U option after the deadline.
To elect the S-U option, students must obtain the approvals indicated on
the form. They may elect the S-U option for only one course each term;
this option is in addition to courses that are taught only on an S-U
basis. Courses taken to fulfill Writing and Math Requirement (Gordon Rule)
may not be taken S-U. Students may view the S-U Option grading policy at
http://www.reg.ufl.edu/01-02-catalog/academic_regulations/academic_regulations_019_.htm.

2. SPRING 2002 CAREER SHOWCASE: Career Showcase is a two-day career fair
for all majors looking for a co-op, internship or full-time employment.
Ask questions about your future and start your job search at Career
Showcase, January 23 and 24 in the Stephen C. O'Connell Center. Visit
http://www.crc.ufl.edu for more information, and click on the Career
Showcase link.

3. STATE CUTS FUNDS FOR SUMMER FLORIDA BRIGHT FUTURES AWARDS: The Office
for Student Financial Affairs has announced that no Florida Bright Futures
Scholarship Program funds will be available for summer 2002. The Florida
Legislature, in a Special Session this fall, cut Florida Bright Futures
Scholarship funds by $11,900,000. The budget reduction leaves only enough
funding to pay projected fall 2001 and spring 2002 award disbursements.
Students planning to attend summer term 2002 who will need financial
assistance may be eligible for federal loan funds if they have not already
reached their annual loan limits. To see if you qualify, check with a
financial aid adviser in S-107 Criser Hall. For more information on the
cutbacks, consult the Bright Futures web site at:
http://www.firn.edu/doe/brfutures.

4. 2002-03 FINANCIAL AID WORKSHOPS IN JANUARY AND FEBRUARY: SFA offers
financial aid Application Help Sessions in January and February at the J.

pm, Room 287 JWRU; and February 13th at 2:00 pm, Room 285 JWRU. Workshops
are free and open to the public.

5. COMPLETE THE DIRECT LOAN CONFIRMATION PROCESS TO RECEIVE LOAN FUNDS:
All Federal Direct Stafford Loan borrowers must confirm that they will
accept loans awarded to them before their funds can be disbursed. Complete
this requirement immediately if you have not done so, or your loan will be
delayed. Go to ISIS at: http://www.isis.ufl.edu, choose "Financial
Information," then choose "Financial Aid Direct Loan Confirmation."

University of Florida. Students and staff from C.A.R.E. (Center for
Assault/Abuse Recovery and Education), UPD Office of Victim Services,
Women's Leadership Council and SG Women's Affairs Cabinet have put
together a month long consciousness-raising campaign to heighten the
campus community's awareness of sexual assault. Events for the month
include a clothing drive for Peaceful Paths, an information campaign in
the dorms and on campus, and a Take Back the Night March and a candlelight
vigil for victims and survivors of sexual violence to be held at the Plaza
