IMPORTANT ADMINISTRATIVE INFORMATION:
1. FALL CRITICAL DATES: Classes begin for Fall semester on Monday,
August 26, 2002, and Drop/Add ends on August 29, 2002. Students are
responsible for all classes which remain on their schedules after the end
of Drop/Add, so please confirm that your schedule is accurate. You can
access the Drop/Add link at http://www.isis.ufl.edu.
2. GATORLINK REQUIRED FOR UF STUDENTS: All undergraduate, graduate and
professional students must have a GatorLink account, which is free.
Beginning August 16, all official university e-mail will be sent only to
your GatorLink e-mail account. Students will be held accountable for
information contained in official university mailings to the GatorLink
address (which resembles this format: [log in to unmask]). Should you prefer,
you may wish to have your GatorLink mail forwarded to a non-GatorLink
address. If you do not have a GatorLink address, visit the GatorLink Web
site at http://www.gatorlink.ufl.edu to create a new account. If you need
assistance, visit the UF Computing Help Desk in the Computer Science
Engineering Building - CSE E214 or CSE E520 or phone 352-392-HELP (4357).

3. NEW INFORMATION FOR FRESHMEN NEEDING TO TAKE CLEP TESTS: If, as an
incoming freshman, you need to take one or more CLEP tests as part of your
Bright Futures Scholarship requirement, here is some important information
for you. Students who entered UF Summer B 2002 MUST have their CLEP tests
done by the end of September. Otherwise they will receive a hold on their
record on October 1 preventing registration for spring semester.
Students entering UF in Fall 2002 MUST have their CLEP tests done by the
end of fall semester (last test date is December 13, 2002). To sign up for
tests on campus go to http://www.at.ufl.edu/clep. For further information
on this requirement, go to http://www.advising.ufl.edu/clep. Since seats
for the test on campus are limited, it is important to get this
requirement done before the deadline. The CLEP requirement applies to
students beginning Summer B and Fall 2002 only.
4. ORCHESTRA SEEKS MEMBERS: The University of Florida Symphony Orchestra
is seeking string players in violin, viola, and cello. Orchestra meets
every Tuesday and Thursday from 1:55pm to 3:50pm (7th and 8th Period).
This is a one credit hour course that meets Humanities requirement.
Interested students should attend August 27th (Tuesday) or August 29th
(Thursday) meeting of the orchestra in room 121 in the Music Building

5. CHECK GATORLINK E-MAIL FOR FINANCIAL AID DISBURSEMENT NOTICES:
Please view your electronic financial aid disbursement receipts and
maintain copies for your records. For questions on financial aid
disbursements, please call University Financial Services at 392-0737 or

6. CHANGED HOURS FOR FINANCIAL AID OFFICE THROUGH SEPTEMBER 6: Until
Friday, September 6, Student Financial Affairs in S-107 Criser will be
open from 8:15 am to 5:00 pm weekdays. Switchboard hours will be 8 am to
4:45 pm. The office will be closed Monday September 2 for Labor Day. For

7. PARKING INFORMATION: Parking restrictions are lifted in Red 1, All
Red, Commuter, All Decal and Motorcycle/Scooter zones through Friday,
August 30. Parking restrictions will be enforced in full beginning
Tuesday, September 3. Listed below are the guidelines for parking
restriction enforcement through August 30, 2002: Lifted restrictions for
All Red & Red 1, Commuter, Scooter Zones, and All Decal. Restrictions
remain in effect for Orange, Blue, Brown (Family Housing), Gated, Meter
Enforcement. All reserved spaces, service drives, handicapped, carpool
and no parking zones will be enforced at all times.

at 7:00 pm, University Auditorium; Asian Student Assembly – Thursday,
August 29 at 7:00 pm, University Auditorium; 2002 Native American
Reception - Friday, August 30 at 7:30 pm Reitz Union, Arredondo Room;
Students with Disabilities Assembly –Tuesday, September 3 at 6:00pm, Reitz
Union room 122; Hispanic Student Assembly – Tuesday, September 10 at
6:00pm, Reitz Union Ballroom. All students welcome to attend events.

9. GATOR CONNECTION: Gator Connection, a welcome home pep rally for new
and returning students will be held on Friday, August 30 at 9:30 pm on the
North Lawn of the Reitz Union. A ten-year University of Florida
tradition, the event is sponsored by the Division of Student Affairs, the
University Athletic Association, the UF Student Alumni Association, and
Gator Dining Services. There will be a spirit competition with prizes for
the Best Dressed Gator Fan, the Most Creative Gator Poster, and the Best
Handmade Gator. Prizes include 2 tickets to the UF/UAB football game,
tickets to Gator Growl, and more. For more information about our spirit

10. GATOR NIGHTS: Gator Nights will start right after Gator Connection.
Gator Nights is a weekly program held at the J. Wayne Reitz Union on
Friday evenings the following each week: Free food at midnight in the
Food Court - NOTE NEW FOOD NOT ALWAYS BREAKFAST!; Extreme Bowling; Free
Popcorn and Coke until 12:00 am; Southwest Recreation Center open until
2:00 am. Free for UF Students with a valid Gator 1 ID. Activities this
week include: Popcorn & Cotton Candy, 9:00 pm, Reitz Union Colonnade; Phi
Beta Sigma Dance, 10:00 pm, Rion Ballroom; Instant Video Buttons & Goofy
ID's 10:00 pm, Reitz Union 1st Floor Lobby; Inflatable Fun, 10:30 pm,

11. SUKKOT SURVIVOR: Sukkot Survivor cast applications are now
available. The program is sponsored by the Jewish Student Union and is
open to ALL students at the University of Florida. 9 Students will be
selected to eat and sleep in a Sukkah (small hut) from Sept 20-29 and vote
each other out in a survivor competition. JSU is looking for the most
diverse cast as possible, as diversity is a key element of the program.
The grand prize is a new motor scooter donated by NewScooters4Less.com.
