IMPORTANT ADMINISTRATIVE INFORMATION:
1.  Drop/Add:
Drop/Add began Tuesday, January 8th and ends Friday, January 11th at 11:59
p.m.  Students are responsible for all classes which remain on their
schedules after the end of Drop/Add, so please confirm that your schedule is
accurate.  You can access the Drop/Add link at <http://www.isis.ufl.edu>.

2.  Payment of Fees:
Fees are due Friday, January 18th by 3:30 p.m.  Make sure that payment or
deferments are received in University Financial Services by the deadline. To
see how much is owed choose "Account Summary" from the Financial Information
link at <http://www.isis.ufl.edu>.  Fees may be paid by credit card on ISIS
- choose "Make a Payment."

3.  Provost's message about Summer School 2002:
You have no doubt heard that the University of Florida's budget was
reduced in the Special Session of the Legislature.  This action has led to
rumors about whether or not UF's Summer A, B, and C terms will be offered
this year.  We are committed to meeting the needs of UF students, and we
plan to offer a substantial program of summer coursework, as we have done
in previous summers.  If you are interested in continuing coursework this
summer, please plan to do it at UF. I can assure you that we will continue
to provide the critical tracking courses and courses central to your
major.  Advance registration for summer courses will be available on ISIS
during the period March 25-April 19, 2002.

4.  Changed Hours for Financial Aid Office until January 18:
Until Friday, January 18th, Student Financial Affairs in S-107 Criser Hall
will be open from 8:15 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. weekdays. Switchboard hours will be
8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. The office will be closed Monday, January 21st, for
Martin Luther King Day. For more information go to:

5.  New Hours for Student Health Care Center:
Student Health wishes you a Happy New Year and announces new hours for
Spring Semester :  Monday through Friday from 8 am - 6:30 pm,  and
Saturday/Sunday/Holidays from 12 noon - 4 pm.  For more information call

6.  Proof of Enrollment:
Proof of Enrollment for Spring 2002 will be available beginning Monday,
January 14th in 222 Criser Hall.  Information about Proof of Enrollment can

7.  Apply Now for 2002-2003 Financial Aid:
Financial aid applications and Gator Aid Application Guides for the
2002-2003 academic year are now available at Student Financial Affairs in
S-107 Criser Hall. March 15, 2002, is UFs on-time 2002-03 financial aid
application deadline. SFA must receive the results of your paper or
electronic Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or Renewal FAFSA
from the federal processor by the deadline. For more information go to

EDUCATIONAL ENHANCEMENT OPPORTUNITIES:
8.  12th Annual People Awareness Week:
People Awareness Week (PAW) is held each year at the University of Florida
as a week-long series of events sponsored by various groups, academic
departments, organizations and staff. Together, PAW is a celebration of the
diverse student body, faculty and staff of UF.  The events include columnist
Bill Maxwell on Monday, Jan. 14 at 7:00 pm in the University Memorial
Auditorium (UMA) speaking on "Celebrate Diversity: Read, Reflect, Make a
Difference," and former N.Y. Yankees pitcher Jim Abbott at 7 pm on Tuesday,
Jan. 15 in UMA for the First Annual ABLE Forum as part of Disability
Awareness Week 2002.  To learn more about these and other PAW events, please

9.  Volunteers for Career Showcase Sought:
Volunteer to be a host at Career Showcase Spring 2002!  Hosts are
representatives of UF and the Career Resource Center who help students and
recruiters during Showcase.  To volunteer, interested students must attend
a host orientation session held in the CRC. For a list of orientation
session dates and times visit <http://www.crc.ufl.edu> or stop by the
Career Resource Center.  Career Showcase will take place on Jan. 23rd &
24th from 9:00am -3:00pm in the O'Connell Center.

10.  Former U.S. President George Bush to Speak:
On Wednesday, January 9, at 8 pm, former U.S. President George Herbert
Walker Bush will be speaking in the O'Connell Center.  The Speech is
sponsored by ACCENT, and is free and open to the public.  Large bags or
backpacks will not be permitted.  Any questions, please call ACCENT at
392-1665 x 306.

11.  University Women's Club Scholarships:
The University Women's Club awards scholarships each spring to
undergraduate juniors and seniors. The requirements for consideration
include full time enrollment at UF, a minimum of a 3.6 GPA, and
participation in campus and/ or community activities.  These monetary
awards recognize scholarship, leadership, and service to the university
and/or community.  Applications for the scholarships can be downloaded
from <http://www.dso.ufl.edu/scholarships/uwc/UWC.html> or obtained in 202
Peabody Hall.

12. Grand Opening for New Recreational Facilities:
The Grand Opening Celebration for the Southwest Recreation Center
Expansion and Lake Wauburg High Ropes and Climbing Wall additions will be
held Thursday, Jan. 10th from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Southwest Recreation
Center.  The ribbon-cutting ceremony is at 1 p.m., then the celebration
begins at 2 p.m. with a martial-arts exhibition, three-point shootout
contest, obstacle course race, and, at 3:30 p.m., a demonstration game by
the Lady Gator Soccer Team! Don't miss out on the free pizza, soda, and
