In case you didn't know ...
SOCNET is a forum for discussing issues pertaining to social network
research. It is owned and operated by INSNA, the professional association
for social network researchers. INSNA stands for International Network for
Social Network Analysis, a cute name which unfortunately legitimizes today's
practice of referring to any group as a "network". The INSNA website is
located at http://www.sfu.ca/~insna/ -- a good starting place if you are
looking for information on social network research. You do not have to
belong to INSNA to use SOCNET, although you probably should.
INSNA publishes a bulletin called CONNECTIONS
(http://www.sfu.ca/~insna/indexConnect.html) which contains news and
articles. It also sponsors the premier journal for social network research,
Social Networks http://www.sfu.ca/~insna/INSNA/sn_inf.html), and the Journal
of Social Structure (http://www2.heinz.cmu.edu/project/INSNA/joss/).
INSNA is also the sponsor of the annual Sunbelt social networks conference
To unsubscribe from SOCNET, do **NOT** send email to the list itself because
your request will then be immediately forwarded, like a virus, to all 1200
of your ex-friends. Instead, send email to the list processor (whose address
is [log in to unmask]). The email should say simply: unsubscribe socnet.
No explanations, goodbyes, or thank-yous are needed.
